Black Friday

Directed by noted filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, Black Friday is a Hindi crime thriller movie about the 1993 Bombay Blasts.
Black Friday is one of the best thrillers ever made in India and the film presents true stories and facts on the bomb blasts. The film stars an ensemble cast of Kay Kay Menon, Pavan Malhotra, Aditya Srivastava, Kishor Kadam, Zakir Hussain, Murali Sharma, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui among others. The film received widespread critical acclaim upon its release. Many critics have called it one of the greatest Indian films of all time and among the most iconic film ever.

NH 10

Directed by Navdeep Sharma, NH 10 stars Anushka Sharma in the lead with Darshan Kumar and Neil Bhoopalam in supporting roles. The crime thriller film tells the story of a corporate couple from Gurgaon who plan a road trip but encounter a group of fierce criminals at the National Highway 10 that connects Delhi to Jaipur. The film was released on 13 March 2015 to positive reviews and emerged as a success. The film is inspired by real-life honor-killing incidents. The film is jointly produced by Anushka Sharma and her brother’s production house Clean Slate Films, Anurag Kashyap’s Phantom Films, and Eros International.

Badlapur

Director Sriram Raghavan is highly known for directing some of the best action-thriller Hindi films. In 2015, he directed Badlapur which is considered as one of his best works and one of the best Hindi thriller films of all time. The film starred Varun Dhawan who was a young and new actor at that time and he surprised everyone with his acting skills. The film is based on the novel Death’s Dark Abyss by an Italian writer. The film also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Huma Qureshi, Kumud Mishra, Yami Gautam, Vinay Pathak, Divya Dutta, and Radhika Apte. Ugly

Released in 2013, Ugly is considered one of the best Hindi thriller films of all time. The film is directed and produced by Anurag Kashyap. The film revolves around a struggling actor in Mumbai whose daughter gets kidnapped. Director Anurag Kashyap got the idea of Ugly while speaking about kidnapping cases to his one of friends from the Lucknow Police Force. The film received critical acclaim and premiered at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, the 2014 New York Indian Film Festival, and the Indian Film Festival Los Angeles. The film was a decent hit in India. it starred Rahul Bhat, Ronit Roy, Tejaswini Kolhapure, Vineet Kumar Singh, Surveen Chawla, Siddhant Kapoor, Girish Kulkarni, and Abir Goswami among others.

Drishyam Series

Here we are talking about Drishyam 2015 (Hindi) but Drishyam is originally a 2013 popular Malayalam thriller film starring Mohanlal in lead and written and directed by Jeetu Joseph. Amazed by the story of Drishyam (Malayalam) the film was remade in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, and Tamil languages. Drishyam 2 (Malayalam) was released in 2020 and again was remade in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, and Tamil languages.

Drishyam (Hindi) stars Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, Rajat Kapur, and Kamlesh Sawant in title roles. The Drishyam series is amongst the most celebrated thriller franchises in India. Gangs of Wasseypur

Baby

Neeraj Pandey is a popular Indian filmmaker known for directing, writing, and producing some of India’s best spy thriller films. In 2015, he directed a spy thriller film titled Baby starring Akshay Kumar, Rana Daggubati, Anupam Kher, Danny Denzongpa, Kay Kay Menon, Sushant Singh, and Jameel Khan among others. Baby received widespread critical acclaim and positive reviews for its direction, script, writing, editing, and performance by the lead cast. The film was a commercial success. The film revolves around special agents of Indian Intelligence who eliminate terrorists.

Airlift

Airlift is a Hindi thriller film based on the evacuation of Indians residing in Kuwait during the Invasion of Kuwait by Saddam Hussein which led to the Gulf War. The film is based on the real story of Indian Kuwait businessman Mathunny Mathews who helped 170,000 Indians to get airlifted and get out of Kuwait during the 1990 Invasion of Kuwait. The film was released on 22 January 2016 to widespread critical acclaim. The film was a major commercial success. the film is directed by Raja Krishna Menon and stars Akshay Kumar, Nimrat Kaur, Inaamulhaq, Avtar Gill, Feryna Wazheir, Purab Kohli, Prakash Belawadi and Kumud Mishra among others.

A Wednesday

A Wednesday was director Neeraj Pandey’s debut project. The film was written and directed by him. Neeraj Pandey today is one of the country’s biggest filmmakers known for his spy thriller movies and TV shows. A Wednesday was released on 5 September 2008 to widespread critical acclaim and high praise. The film stars an ensemble cast of Anupam Kher, Naseeruddin Shah, Jimmy Shergil, Aamir Bashir, Deepal Shaw, Parag Tyagi, Alok Narula, Rohitash Gaud, and Kali Prasad Mukerji among others. The film is produced by Ronnie Screwvala. A Wednesday tells the story of a common man who stances as an anonymous caller and calls the Mumbai Police Commissioner and asks to release a few terrorist prisoners or he threatens to bomb the entire city. The film won several awards including the Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film for a Director at the 56th National Film Awards.
