    Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is the best road-trip Indian film.

    Baahubali series, KGF series, YRF Universe, Animal series, and Pushpa series, the new Indian audience is gripped with massive high-budget and large-scale films.

    But in 2011, a film directed by Zoya Akhtar came and became one of the best films ever made in the history of cinema. And, even after a decade, no filmmaker has ever tried to make a film in this genre.

    We are talking about the much-loved Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, one of the finest Indian films ever. Released on 15 July 2011, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is a road comedy adventure drama film directed and written by talented filmmaker Zoya Akhtar. The film stars Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol, Farhan Akhtar, Katrina Kaif, and Kalki Koechlin among the leads. It is certainly the best adventure road trip film in India. The movie is shot in many locations such as Delhi, London, and Spain. The film was made on a budget of 45 crores. The film is produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.

    Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara tells the story of three childhood school friends Kabir Dewan (Abhay Deol), Imran Qureshi (Farhan Akhtar), and Arjun Saluja (Hrithik Roshan) who plan a few epic adventure sports and road trips before the wedding of Kabir Dewan to Natasha Arora (Kalki Koechlin) and they meet Laila (Katrina Kaif) in between.

    Upon its release, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara received widespread critical acclaim and praise for its direction, screenplay, story, editing, songs, and performance of the lead cast. The film won the Best Film, Best Film (critics), Best Supporting Actor (Farhan Akhtar), and the Best Director award at the Filmfare Awards 2012. The film won several other awards including the National Film Award.

    Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara remains the best adventure comedy-drama Indian film. But in 2015, director Zoya Akhtar brought another comedy-drama adventure film titled ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’. The film was shot in many locations such as India, France, Italy, Turkey, Spain, and Tunisia. Dil Dhadakne Do was another adventure drama film by Zoya Akhtar and it emerged as a commercial success but failed to match the standard of an adventure drama film set by Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Dil Dhadakne Do was criticized for its runtime and climax. Though the film is a good one-time watch. The film starred an ensemble cast of Ranveer Singh, Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Anushka Sharma, Rahul Bose, and Vikrant Massey among others.

    The film was released in 2011 and fans are demanding a sequel

    Today, even in 2024, the audience is still watching and loving Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and demanding a sequel. In 2012 and 2013, the director of the movie Zoya Akhtar and producer Farhan Akhtar expressed their belief that there is no need for a sequel of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. But in the last few years, the makers and the lead cast have shown their interest in coming back with a sequel. The makers and the cast of the film recently celebrated the 13th anniversary of the film and showed interest in part 2. But nothing has been officially announced yet. In the future, Zoya Akhtar will surely come with another adventure comedy-drama film but, certainly, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara 2 will never happen.

    Zoya Akhtar’s recent directional work includes the musical drama film Gully Boy (2019) with Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. The film was a massive commercial success and critically acclaimed. In the meantime, she produced and wrote a film titled Kho Gaye Hum Kahan for Netflix and a show titled Dahaad for Amazon Prime Video. Kho Gaye Hum Kahan starred Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Pandey, and Adarsh Gaurav while Dahaad starred Sonakshi Sinha, Vijay Verma, and Gulshan Devaiah. Both the projects of Zoya Akhtar were successful and huge on the platform.

    In 2019, Zoya Akhtar directed, wrote, and produced a series titled ‘Made In Heaven’. Made In Heaven is a romantic drama show and it is amongst the best shows ever made in India. in 2023, Zoya Akhtar released the second part of the show which was demanded profoundly by the viewers. The show stars an ensemble cast of Arjun Mathur, Sobhita Dhulipala, Kalki Koechlin, Jim Sharbh, Shashank Arora, and Shivani Raghuvanshi among others. Made In Heaven is one of the best and most watched critically acclaimed shows on Amazon Prime Video.

    As of now, Hrithik Roshan is stepping in to do higher-budget and large-scale commercial films. His last few hits W1 (2019) and F (2023) are large-scale commercial films that were successful. He is presently shooting for W2 (2025) which is amongst the most awaited films of 2025. It also stars South superstar JR NTR as the main antagonist. After W2, Hrithik Roshan might move to Krrish 4. However, he has asked Zoya Akhtar to plan the sequel of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

    Farhan Akhtar who is a noted producer is busy with his production company Excel Entertainment which has produced a couple of successful web series and commercial successful films. His upcoming and biggest project is D3 with Ranveer Singh reprising the role of Don replacing Shahrukh Khan. Farhan is the real brother of Zoya Akhtar and even he has asked his sister to plan the sequel of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

    Abhay Deol’s career has fluctuated post-Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. He is doing fewer projects. He was last seen in a Netflix show titled Trail By Fire. Though he is very much interested in doing the Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara sequel. Whereas Kalki Koechlin is busy with her projects.

    Besides Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif is also a member of the YRF Universe. She was last seen in T3 opposite Salman Khan. She recently got married to actor Vicky Kaushal. As of now, she has no project in hand.

    A sequel of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara might never happen.

    Aditya Roy Kapur began his journey as a VJ on a music channel. He made his Bollywood debut with Vipul Shah’s directional musical drama film London Dreams. The film which also starred superstars like Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn alongside Aditya Roy Kapur. The film was a moderate success at the box office. The film also starred Asin, Om Puri, and Ranvijay Singh. Post London Dreams, director Vipul Shah signed Aditya Roy Kapur for another movie titled A Replay. The film starred Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead. A Replay was subject to negative reviews and flopped at the box office.

    Post London Dreams and A Replay, Aditya Roy Kapur was signed by noted filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali for his 2010 directional Guzaarish. Guzaarish received critical acclaim and emerged as a big hit at the box office. The film starred an ensemble cast of Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Shernaz Patel, Suhel Seth, Rajit Kapur, and Mark and Deshpande among others.     Following the success of Guzaarish in 2010, Aditya Roy Kapur didn’t have a single release till 2013. But the actor returned with a bang.

    His first release in 2013 was Mohit Suri’s directional Aashiqui 2. The film was produced by Mahesh Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt, Bhushan Kumar, and Krishna Kumar. The film starred Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead as a couple with Shaad Randhawa, Mahesh Thakur, and Shubhangi Latkar in supporting roles. The film starred Aditya Roy Kapur as a famous but failing singer and Shraddha Kapoor as a budding singer who is mentored by Aditya Roy Kapur.

    The romantic musical drama film was released on 26 April 2013 and received universal critical acclaim and widespread popularity. The film even became a blockbuster at the box office. The film received rave reviews whereas Aditya Roy Kapur was highly hailed for his performance and till today it remains his best performance ever. Aashiqui 2 is possibly the best Bollywood film with the best songs. All the songs of Aashiqui 2 were chartbusters and still are listened to by everyone. Aashiqui 2 became one of the highest-grossing films of 2013. The film was remade in the Telugu language as well.

    Post Aashiqui 2, Aditya Roy Kapur starred in Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani in the same year. Released 31 May 2013, Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani is the highest-grosser and biggest hit for Aditya Roy Kapur to date. The film starred Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Kalki Koechlin in lead roles with Kunaal Roy Kapur, Farooq Sheikh, Tanvi Azmi, Dolly Ahluwalia, and Evelyn Sharma in supporting roles. The comedy romantic friendship drama film was directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Karan Johar.

    Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani was subject to widespread critical acclaim and is still called one of the best Indian films ever. Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani grossed over 300 crores becoming a major commercial success for its makers. The film received widespread popularity among the younger generation with all the songs topping the charts. The film received praise for the performance of its lead cast, direction, screenplay, story, soundtrack, cinematography, and costume design. Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani is considered a cult film. It is among the best films of Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Kalki Koechlin. Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani received several awards.     Unfortunately, post Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani and Aashiqui 2 and to date, Aditya Roy Kapur is suffering a collapse in his film career. He starred in many films but none of his films received a response like his previous hits Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani and Aashiqui 2. After 2013 his next hit film came in 2020 with Mohit Suri’s directional Malang. The film also starred Disha Patani, Anil Kapoor, and Kunal Khemu. In 2020, he starred in the Netflix movie Ludo which received positive reviews.

    In 2023, Aditya Roy Kapur made his digital debut with a web show for Hotstar. He starred in the Hindi adaption of the British series The Night Manager which starred Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie, Olivia Colman, Tom Hollander, David Harewood, and Elizabeth Debicki. The Hindi adaption was titled the same.

    The Night Manager (Hindi) starred an ensemble cast of Aditya Roy Kapur, Anil Kapoor, Sobhita Dhulipala, Ravil Behl, Tillotama Shome, and Saswata Chatterjee among others. The show received positive reviews and became one of the best TV series based in India.

    Aditya Roy Kapur last starred in a film Gumraah. The film is an official remake of the 2019 Tamil hit film Thadam. Though Gumraah received mixed to negative reviews and emerged as a box office flop.

    Aditya Roy Kapur will be seen next in a film titled Metro in Dino. The film proved to be career career-changing film for Sidharth Malhotra who received extensive praise for his hard work and his portrayal of Vikram Batra. By the end of August 2021, Shershaah became the most-watched Indian film on Amazon Prime. It is considered the best Indian film released digitally. The film won several awards including a National Film Award. Two years later, Sidharth and Kiara Advani who starred together in Shershaah as a couple got married in 2023 in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.     Varun Dhawan starred and released two of his most important films in 2022 and fortunately, both of his films managed to perform well at the box office and entertain the audience.

    His first release of 2022 was a comedy-drama film titled ‘Jugjugg Jeeyo’ directed by Raj Mehta and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Jugjugg Jeeyo was released on 24 June 2022 with mixed to positive reviews with critics praising the story, direction, screenplay, and performance of the cast. Jugjugg Jeeyo performed amazingly well at the box office. The film starred an ensemble cast of Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Manish Paul, Tisca Chopra, and Prajakta Kohli.

    Varun’s second release of 2022 was a horror comedy movie titled ‘Bhediya’ produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films and directed by Amar Kaushik. Amar Kaushik earlier directed Stree (2018) for Dinesh Vijan’s production house Maddock Films. Bhediya is part of Maddock Film’s Maddock Supernational Universe, a film franchise with comedy and horror movies. Films under the Maddock Supernational Universe are Stree (2018), Roohi (2021), Bhediya (2022), Munjya (2024) and the upcoming Stree 2 (2024). Bhediya was released on 25 November 2022 to positive reviews and was highly hailed for the performance by Varun Dhawan, Deepak Dobriyal, Abhishek Banerjee, and Paalin Kabak. The film also starred Kriti Sanon as the female lead. The film was also praised for its VFX, screenplay, story, and graphics.

    Varun Dhawan’s next and upcoming release is an drama film titled ‘Baby John’. The film is an official adaption of Atlee’s 2016 Tamil blockbuster film Theri which starred Vijay and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Atlee is one of the co-producers of the film besides Jyoti Deshpande and Murad Khetani. Today, Atlee is the most demanded and popular director in the country post the mammoth success of his previous direction ‘Jawan’ which starred Shahrukh Khan in the lead. The expectations are sky high from Baby John and Varun Dhawan. The film also stars Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, Jackie Shroff, Sanjay Malhotra, Rajpal Yadav, and Sheeba Chaddha. Baby John is a nonsense drama and massy film which is going to present Varun Dhawan in a never seen before avatar. The film is set for a theatrical release on 25 December 2024 during Christmas. Baby John is directed by Kalees.

    The actor and his wife Natasha Dalal were recently blessed with a baby girl on 3rd July 2024.

    Besides Boby John, Varun Dhawan has another big and one of the most important projects of his film career releasing in 2024. It’s a web series that is set to release on Amazon Prime Video. Varun Dhawan with Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead is all set to star in a spin-off of the American TV series Citadel (2023) which starred Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra and the Russo Brothers as the executive producers. Citadel: Honey Bunny (2024) Hindi is directed by the king of OTT’s brother duo Raj & DK. Raj & DK are the directors of some of the most amazing shows made in India such as The Family Man, Farzi, and G and Gulbaabs. Citadel (Hindi) is set to be out in 2024 or early 2025. Besides, Varun and Samnatha, the series also stars Sikander Kher, Kay Kay Menon, Saqib Saleem, and Emma Canning.

    Post Baby John and Citadel: Hunny Bunny, Varun Dhawan will begin the shooting for Karan Johar’s upcoming comedy romantic film titled ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’. Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is directed and written by Shashank Khaitan and also stars Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf besides Varun. The film is set to release in 2025. Shashank Khaitan earlier directed Varun Dhawan in Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Janhvi Kapoor in her Bollywood debut film ‘Dhadak’.

    Varun Dhawan is also shooting for another romantic comedy film directed by his father David Dhawan. The film is titled ‘Hai Jaawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’. The film also stars Mrunal Thakur and Sreeleela as the female leads.
