With just a little bit of experience in Bollywood, new actress Sharvari has been signed by one of the biggest movie production houses in India to feature in one of the biggest movie franchises. Sharvari certainly seems like the next big thing in Bollywood as many big filmmakers are thinking of signing her to feature as the female lead in their next films.
A little bit about Sharvari
Born in 1997 in Mumbai, Sharvari is the granddaughter of prominent politician Manohar Joshi who served as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Her father is a renowned builder and her mother is an architect.
In an interview, the actress revealed that she has been auditioning for movie roles since 2014. Though she served as an assistant director to popular director Luv Ranjan in movies like Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. She also served as an assistant director to legendary filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali in his film Bajirao Mastani.
Debut as an Actress
Sharvari finally made her acting debut in 2020 in director Kabir Khan’s directional web series The Forgotten Army – Azaadi Ke Liye. The show was premiered on Prime Video and received positive reviews. Sharvari was featured opposite actor Sunny Kaushal whom she is dating presently. Sunny Kaushal is the younger brother of leading Bollywood actor Vicky Kaushal.
Sharvari made her film debut with Yash Raj Films, one of the biggest movie production and distribution companies in India. She was featured as one of the leads in the 2021 movie Bunty Aur Babli 2. The film also starred Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukerji, and Siddhant Chaturvedi. The film underperformed at the box office and received negative reviews. Whereas, Sharvari won the Best Female Debut award at the IFFA Awards and Filmfare Awards 2022.
Established Actress
She is just a few years old in Bollywood yet someway Sharvari is one of the leading ladies of Bollywood today. Her last release was a big commercial success whereas her upcoming release in 2025 is one of the biggest films of 2025.
Sharvari had two major film releases in 2024. Earlier this year, she featured as the female lead in the horror comedy film Munjya. The film also starred Abhay Verma as the male lead along with an ensemble cast of Sathyaraj, Mona Singh, and Suhas Joshi among others.
Munjya is a horror comedy film directed by Aditya Sarpotdar. The film is produced by Dinesh Vijan and his production house Maddock Films. Munjya is a part and fourth film from the Maddock Supernatural Universe. Maddock Supernatural Universe has delivered iconic horror comedy films like Stree, Bhediya, and the recent epic blockbuster Stree 2.
Munjya is the dark horse of 2024. The film had limited options. The film featured a new and inexperienced star cast. The film was directed by a debutant director and the film was released on lesser screens in the theatres. Yet, Munjya managed to outperform many big films of 2024 featuring an A-list star cast. Upon its release, Munjya received positive reviews and emerged as a major commercial success by earning over 130 crores globally. The film proved to be a breakthrough for young actors such as Sharvari and Abhay Verma.
After Munjya, Sharvari featured in one of the leads in the 2024 action drama film Vedaa. The film also starred John Abraham and Abhishek Banerjee in the lead. Unlike her last film, Vedaa underperformed at the box office and received mixed reviews. But Sharvari’s performance was highly hailed by critics.
As of now, Sharvari is in Kashmir, India shooting for her next big action thriller film. In 2025, Sharvari will feature in the film Alpha. Alpha is a 2025 large-scale action thriller film starring Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol among others. All four actors will join the Yash Raj Films’s YRF Spy Universe.
YRF Spy Universe is the biggest Hindi film franchise and one of the biggest film franchises in India. The franchise features superstars like Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan, and Hrithik Roshan as Indian Spy Agents in movies such as Pataan, Tiger Zinda Hai, and War.
Alia Bhatt is the first actress who will feature as an Indian Spy Agent in a female-led spy action film. Sharvari will feature as her junior whereas Anil Kapoor is set to feature as their boss with Bobby Deol as the main antagonist. Alpha is set to release in late 2025 and it will be the seventh film from the YRF Spy Universe. Before Alpha, the audience will get to see War 2 which will be released in mid-2025.
With a film like Alpha, Sharvari will stand tall as one of the leading actresses of Bollywood. According to the reports, she is been considered by many producers to star opposite actors like Kartik Aaryan, Ranveer Singh, Rajkummar Rao, and Ayushmann Khurana in their upcoming films.
