Netflix and YRF’s The Railway Men is celebrating its first anniversary. The series premiered on 18 November 2023 on Netflix. The Railway Men is a biographical and historical drama thriller series. It is regarded as one of the best Indian shows ever.

The Railway Men is inspired by the true events of the 1984 Bhopal Gas Leak which is highly held as one of the world’s worst industrial disasters. It claimed the deaths of over 4000+ victims and over 500000+ got physically incapacitated. The chemical incident took place on the night of 2nd December 1984 in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
In 2021, YRF (Yash Raj Films) announced that they are making a web series on the 1984 Bhopal Gas Leak tragedy. The series was titled ‘The Railway Men’.

The Railway Men is based on the 1984 Bhopal Gas Leak tragedy. But The Railway Men tells the unsung true stories of Bhopal Railway Station employees who handled millions of citizens and evacuated them out of the city through trains.
The series ‘The Railway Men’ is inspired from Bhopal Railway Station master Ghulam Dastagir and other employees of the railway station who saved millions of lives on the night of the tragedy.
The Railway Men featured several critically acclaimed actors such as Kay Kay Menon, R Madhavan, and Divyenndu in the lead roles. The series also featured late actor Irrfan Khan’s son Babil Khan in his digital debut. The series also starred Juhi Chawla, Sunny Hinduja, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Denzil Smith, Raghubir Yadav, Mandira Bedi, Sunita Rajwar, Manish Wadhwa and Mushtaq Khan in the supporting roles.
The Railway Men was directed by Shiv Rawail and produced by YRF (Yash Raj Films). It was YRF (Yash Raj Films)’s first digital web show.
The shooting of The Railway Men began late in 2021 and was wrapped by mid-2022. However, the show suffered a delay due to numerous reasons and was finally announced by Netflix to premiere in November 2023. The show embraces just four episodes.

Several leading Bollywood film celebrities praised the show. the show received rave reviews because of its direction, story, screenplay, the performance of the cast, presentation of the real unsung stories, and the visual graphics. A second season of The Railway Men is in talks presently. The second season may cover the silent stories of other individuals who tried to avert the 1984 Bhopal Gas Leak tragedy at the chemical factory and tried to save the lives of millions of citizens residing in the Bhopal city.
