Salman Khan’s action thriller film Tiger 3 marks its first anniversary today. It was one of the most anticipated films of 2023 and the biggest film of Salman Khan since 2019. Tiger 3 was predicted to become a high grossing film at the box office. But what happened, shocked everyone. Tiger 3 went wrong and worse.

Tiger 3 is the fifth film for the YRF Spy Universe. Among the Spy characters of Tiger, Pathaan, and Kabir, Tiger is the most popular character as the Tiger film initiated the foundation of the YRF Spy Universe.
YRF Spy Universe is amongst the biggest and most successful film franchises in India.
Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) earned over 330 crores in India and over 600 crores globally.
Ek Tha Tiger (2012) earned over 200 crores in India and over 300 crores globally.
Tiger 3 (2023) earned over 270 crores in India and over 450 crores globally despite mixed reviews. All the films from the YRF Spy Universe have received positive reviews. But, Tiger 3 received mixed reviews and criticism for its story, screenplay, and direction. Even the makers of the film were shocked by the performance of Tiger 3.
Tiger 3 didn’t fail at the box office practically. But the film underperformed considering the hype of the YRF spy films and the superstardom of Salman Khan. Actually, whatever business Tiger 3 achieved at the box office is only because of the superstardom of Salman Khan. Otherwise, the film would have flopped terribly.
So, what went wrong with Tiger 3
Tiger 3 had a terrible release date. The film was released on Diwali day when almost every Indian citizen is busy celebrating the festival. Also, Tiger 3 clashed with the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 which was held in India. nobody would be interested in watching a film when the Indian Cricket Team is playing semi-finals and finals of the World Cup in India.
Tiger 3 had everything. It was made on a budget of 300 crores. They had an amazing action and stunt team. They had a great start cast of Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Emraan Hashmi. But, Tiger 3 didn’t have the main thing, the story.
The story of Tiger 3 seemed to be foolish. An Indian agent helping the government of Pakistan against a coup was absurd. Forget the story. The direction, screenplay, music, and editing of Tiger 3 were worse, especially after watching a film like Pathaan in the same year.
Salman Khan did everything to save the film and it is because of him that Tiger 3 is still a hit. Emraan Hashmi is an excellent actor but he looked unconfident as the main protagonist of the film.
The story of Tiger 3 was written by the film’s producer Aditya Chopra and the film was directed by Maneesh Sharma. They both are to be blamed for Tiger 3’s underperformance.
Moving on, the future of YRF Spy Universe is amazing. They have films like War 2 and Alpha set to release in 2025. Pathaan 2 is currently under production and writing is going on.
There won’t be another Tiger film anymore. Tiger 3 was the last film of Salman Khan as Tiger.
But Aditya Chopra, CEO and head of YRF Entertainment is planning the biggest Indian film ever. He is planning a two hero film with Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan in the lead. Both actors will reprise their roles of Pathaan and Tiger in a film titled ‘Tiger vs Pathaan’. It is said to be released in 2030 under the direction of Sidharth Anand.
