    Rajinikanth’s 2024 film Vettaiyan has emerged as a box office flop. This was unexpected and came as a huge shock because Rajinikanth’s last 2023 film ‘J’ was a blockbuster.

    Vettaiyan is an investigation film written and directed by T. J. Gnanavel. Vettaiyan had one of the greatest stars cast any film could have. The film starred Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Kishore, and Dushara Vijayan. These are an exceptional bunch of actors. Imagine having someone like Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, and Rana Daggubati in a movie and still the movie failing to work.

    Vettaiyan Movie Review

    Vettaiyan is great but could have been extraordinary and a winner at the box office.

    The story of Vettaiyan is fresh and thoughtful but seems unimpressive. The screenplay looked a bit jumbled and the climax was underwhelming. The movie didn’t have any incredible songs.

    The movie failed to present Rajinikanth as a gigantic protagonist. Rajinikanth seemed like a usual hero. He had no sight of a superstar. His intro scene and song were quite ordinary. The climax was mediocre. Rajinikanth’s 2023 film J worked only because of the heroism shown by the character and the amazing background music and song for him. He looked like a superstar in the film.

    Fahadh Faasil is regarded as one of the greatest actors in India. Look at Fahadh Faasil’s character in the Telugu film ‘Pushpa’ and compare it with his character in Vettaiyan. Fahadh Faasil was in Vettaiyan for the comic relief. Fahadh Faasil may have signed this film to work with Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan, otherwise, there is no point in him doing such characters. He is a leading superstar. The makers of Vettaiyan should have signed any other actor for this character.

    Rana Daggubati looked weak and uninterested in his character. He should have given more screen time and his character should have given more fearlessness. Rana Daggubati looked very ordinary in the film. Bobby Deol had just a 30 minutes presence in ‘Animal’ but he left a great impact. The same was required from Rana Daggubati in Vettaiyan.

    Only Amitabh Bachchan did justice to his role. Amitabh Bachchan looked convincing and excessive in his character.

    Vettaiyan is more of an investigative than an entertaining film. The film failed to present Rajinikanth to his essential potential. As a result, Vettaiyan received mixed to positive reviews but underperformed at the box office. According to the reports, the producers of the film have suffered a great loss and they have requested Rajnikanth to do another film with them and reduce his acting fees.

    Rajnikanth will be seen next in the 2025 film ‘Coolie’. Coolie is the film that will present Rajnikanth as a true big superstar. Rajnikanth’s character in Coolie is the one to watch out. The film is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj who is known for directing films like Leo, Vikram, Master, and Kaithi. Coolie is going to be a gamechanger Tamil film in 2025.

    Salman Khan’s big film T3 marks its first anniversary today. It was one of the most anticipated films of 2023 and the biggest film of Salman Khan since 2019. T3 was predicted to become a high grossing film at the box office. But what happened, shocked everyone. T3 went wrong and worse.

    T3 is the fifth film for the YRF Universe. Among the characters of Ti Pathaan, and Kabir, T is the most popular character as the T film initiated the foundation of the YRF Universe.

    YRF Universe is amongst the biggest and most successful film franchises in India.

    TZH (2017) earned over 330 crores in India and over 600 crores globally.

    ETT (2012) earned over 200 crores in India and over 300 crores globally.

    T3 (2023) earned over 270 crores in India and over 450 crores globally despite mixed reviews. All the films from the YRF Universe have received positive reviews. But, T3 received mixed reviews and criticism for its story, screenplay, and direction. Even the makers of the film were shocked by the performance of T3.

    T3 didn’t fail at the box office practically. But the film underperformed considering the hype of the YRF films and the superstardom of Salman Khan. Actually, whatever business T3 achieved at the box office is only because of the superstardom of Salman Khan. Otherwise, the film would have flopped terribly.

    So, what went wrong with T3

    T3 had a terrible release date. The film was released during festive season when almost every Indian citizen was busy celebrating the festival. Also, T3 released during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 which was held in India. Nobody would be interested in watching a film when the Indian Cricket Team is playing semi-finals and finals of the World Cup in India.

    T3 had everything. It was made on a budget of 300 crores. They had an amazing stunt team. They had a great start cast of Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Emraan Hashmi. But, T3 didn’t have the main thing, the story.

    The story of T3 seemed to be foolish. Forget the story. The direction, screenplay, music, and editing of T3 were worse, especially after watching a film like Pathaan in the same year.

    Salman Khan did everything to save the film and it is because of him that T3 is still a hit. Emraan Hashmi is an excellent actor but he looked unconfident as the main protagonist of the film.

    The story of T3 was written by the film’s producer Aditya Chopra and the film was directed by Maneesh Sharma. They both are to be blamed for T3’s underperformance.

    Moving on, the future of YRF Universe is amazing. They have films like W2 and Alpha set to release in 2025. Pathaan 2 is currently under production and writing is going on.

    There won’t be another T film anymore. T3 was the last film of Salman Khan as T.

    But Aditya Chopra, CEO and head of YRF Entertainment is planning the biggest Indian film ever. He is planning a two hero film with Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan in the lead. Both actors will reprise their roles of Pathaan and T in a film titled ‘T vs P’. It is said to be released in 2030 under the direction of Sidharth Anand.

    The sequel of Singh Is King is reportedly titled ‘Singh Is King 2’ but it won’t feature Akshay Kumar. In fact, actors who featured in Singh Is King won’t reprise their roles in the second part of the film.

    According to the sources, the makers of the film are planning to rope in a big name from the Indian Film Industry to play the lead.

    Popular Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh and Punjabi Superstar Diljeet Dosanjh are the frontrunners to replace Akshay Kumar in the second part. The makers will most likely lock Ranveer Singh because of his grasp on Indian films. Diljeet Dosanjh is a popular singer and actor but he is yet to feature solo in a big Bollywood film.

    The makers of Singh Is King 2 revealed that they have planning the sequel movie for the last several years. The script is ready and they are planning to begin the production in 2025 and release the film in 2026. The makers are presently scouting several actors for all the characters.

    The makers have confirmed that they have approached Ranveer Singh to star in the film as the lead. If Ranveer’s casting doesn’t work out, the makers will move to Diljeet Dosanjh with the script of Singh Is King. Actresses such as Sara Ali Khan and Ananya Pandey are discussed to feature as the female lead in the film whereas critically acclaimed actor Pankaj Tripathi might appear in a key role in the film.

    The official rights of the film are owned by Vipul Amrutlal Shah who produced Singh Is King (2008) and now is planning the sequel.

    Singh Is King (2008) is one of the best comedy films ever. It featured Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in the lead with an ensemble cast of Sonu Sood, Om Puri, Jaaved Jaaferi, Ranvir Shorey, Kirron Kher, Neha Dhupia, Sudhuanshu Pandey, Yashpal Sharma, Satwant Kaur and Manoj Pahwa among others.

    Upon its release, Singh Is King received mixed to positive reviews. The film earned over 140 crores globally against a budget of 30 crores. Singh Is King was one of the highest grossing films of 2008. The film was shot in Punjab, Mumbai and few other countries.
