    Drishyam (2013 – Beginning)

    In 2013, director and writer Jeetu Joseph received praise for his critically acclaimed film Drishyam. Drishyam is a popular movie franchise in India. It is a drama film that received widespread critical acclaim upon its release in India. It is considered a landmark film in the Malayalam Film Industry. Drishyam won numerous awards including the Kerala State Film Award for Best Film with Popular Appeal and Aesthetic Value. The film starred an ensemble cast of Mohanlal, Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Asha Sarath, Siddique, Roshan Basheer, and Neeraj Madhav among others.

    Following its success the film was remade in several languages such as Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. The film was remade in Chinese language as well and the film was titled Sheep Without a Shephed. It was the ninth-highest-grossing Chinese film of 2019. The remake of Drishyam in Indonesian and Korean languages has been announced as well.

    A sequel titled Drishyam 2 was released in 2021. The film was released on digital platform Prime Video. Again, the sequel received widespread critical acclaim and was remade in several languages.

    Kuruthi (2021)

    Kuruthi is a neo-noir drama film written by Anish Pallyal and directed by Manu Warrier. The film stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Roshan Mathews, Shine Tom Chacko, Murali Gopy, Naslen K. Gafoor, and Mamukkoya among others. Popular Indian Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran plays the character of the main antagonist in the film. He has also produced the film along with his wife Supriya Menon under their production banner Prithviraj Productions.

    Kuruthi was released on 11 August 2021 to positive reviews from the critics. The film was released digitally on Amazon Prime Video. It is one of the most-watched films of 2021 on the digital platform.

    Kuruthi is a mind-blowing film that should fascinate the viewers. The film was shot in just a month, from December 2020 to January 2021. However, the editing and post-production work took a few months. Kuruthi was initially meant to be released in theatres.

    Iratta was released on 3rd February 2023 to positive reviews. The film received high praise from the critics. A month later on 3rd March 2023, the film was released digitally on Netflix and became one of the most-watched movies of the year.

    In October 2021, Nayattu was nominated for India’s selection for Best International Film at the 94th Academy Awards. The film was remade in the Telugu language as well.

The film was released on 16 November 2018 to widespread critical acclaim and highly positive reviews. Actor Joju George won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Character Actor. He also received a special mention at the National Awards.

    Joseph is being remade in Hindi language with actor Sunny Deol surprising Joju George’s role. The Kannada, Telugu, and Tamil remakes of Joseph are already released.

    Despite being low-key, giving a miss to Bollywood functions and award shows and not being very lively, Ajay Devgn has managed to stay one of the most popular stars of the country by giving some really good films in the last few years. Ajay Devgn is one of the biggest superstars of India. He has five big films releasing in 2024.

    Ajay Devgn had a good decade from 2010 to 2024. He delivered numerous blockbuster and iconic films such as Singham, Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, Golmaal 3, Raajneeti, Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji, Rascals, Bol Bachchan, Son of Sardaar, Singham Returns, Drishyam, Shivaay, Baadshaho, Golmaal Again, Raid, Total Dhamaal, De De Pyaar De, Tanhaji, Runway 34, Drishyam 2, Bholaa, Shaitaan and Maidaan.

    In 2020, Ajay Devgn’s Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior remained as the highest-grossing film of the year. The film was released in January 2020 and saw the hype. Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior had opened to widespread critical acclaim and grossed over 300 crores globally. The film was directed by Om Raut.

    In 2021, Ajay Devgn starred in a guest appearance as Bajirao Singham in Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi. Sooryavanshi starred Akshay Kumar as Sooryavanshi in Rohit Shetty’s Universe.     Ajay Devgn’s final release of 2022 in lead was Drishyam 2. Drishyam 2 received widespread critical acclaim and grossed over 350 crores globally and over 200 crores in India. Drishyam 2 (Hindi) was an official remake of Drishyam 2 (Malayalam) that was released on the OTT platform in 2020. The film was directed by Abhishek Pathak and starred Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, Tabu, Akshaye Khanna, Ishita Dutt, Kamlesh Sawant and Saurabh Shukla besides Ajay Devgn.

The film grossed over 200 crores globally collected over 150 crores in India and became one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of the year.

    Ajay Devgn’s second release of 2024 came as ‘Maidaan’ a biographical sports drama film. The film was directed by Amit Sharma and produced by Boney Kapoor. Maidaan was one of the most anticipated films in the past few years. The film was originally announced in 2019 but faced several delays. The film was finally released in 2024 but underperformed at the box office despite receiving positive reviews. The football drama film is based on Indian Football and Indian Football coach Syed Abdul Rahim.

    Ajay Devgn’s next release of the year is a romantic film titled ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’. The film is written and directed by Neeraj Pandey. Neeraj Pandey is highly known for directing movies and shows such as Baby, A Wednesday, S O, Special 26, and a cricket biopic on Indian cricketer MS Dhoni.     Ajay Devgn’s final release of 2024 is Raid 2. Raid 2 is a sequel to the 2018 drama film Raid starring Ajay Devgn, Saurabh Shukla, and Ileana D’cruz. The film is directed by Raj Kumar Gupta. Raid 2 once again is based on the true stories of the Income Tax Department. Raid 2 stars Vaani Kapoor as the female lead and Ritesh Deshmukh as the main antagonist. The film is currently under production and set to release this year.

    Ajay Devgn is currently shooting for De De Pyaar De 2, Golmaal 5, and Son of Sardaar 2. All the films are expected to be released in 2025.
