The last many films of T Shroff have flopped
He currently has no film in hand
Jai Hemant Shroff popularly known as T Shroff is the son of noted film actor Jackie Shroff. T Shroff has been a popular face of Bollywood since his debut film. With no struggle, he has been fortunate enough to taste success in his early days of Bollywood. But presently, the actor is facing a massive fading in his movie career. T Shroff has to take accountability to stay relevant since every film of his can’t work only with stunts.
T Shroff debuted in 2014 with Sajid Nadiadwala’s Heeropanti. The movie was also the debut film of actress Kriti Sanon. Heeropanti went on to become a massive commercial hit and became a massive film franchise for producer Sajid Nadiadwala. Sajid Nadiadwala went on to make Heeropanti 2 as well. For Heeropanti, T Shroff won several awards for the Best Debut Male 2014. T who is quite keen on bodybuilding, and stunt skills was praised in the movie. However, he was severely criticized for his acting performance and dialogue delivery.
In 2016, T Shroff and Sajid Nadiadwala collaborate once again for another film titled Baaghi. The film starred Shraddha Kapoor as the female lead. Baaghi was another film for T Shroff where he displayed his outstanding stunt skills but was criticized for his acting performance. Though Baaghi was a major success and became another big film franchise for the makers.
Post Baaghi, T Shroff had a bit of a struggle at the box office with flop films such as A Flying Jatt, Student of The Year 2, and Munna Michael. But then a fairy-tale kind of affair happened in his career. T was signed for Yash Raj Film’s massive film titled ‘W1’ which also starred Hrithik Roshan. Released in 2019, W1 became one of the highest-grossing Hindi films and the highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2019.
T Shroff once again collaborated with Sajid Nadiadwala in 2020 and released Baaghi 2. Though the film did pretty well business at the box office but the film received poor reviews from the critics. Baaghi 2 remains T Shroff’s last box office success till date.
Now, the taste of Indian audience has changed. They want to see something new.
In 2022, T Shroff went on to star in Heropanti 2 with Kriti Sanon and Sajid Nadiadwala as producers. The film was a massive flop for T Shroff and Sajid. They tasted their first flop film together and understood that the audience was looking for something new.
After Heropanti 2, T Shroff and Kriti Sanon went on to star in Ganapath with the legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan in a supporting role. Opened generally to negative reviews, Ganapath happened to be a big box office flop. Made on a budget of 190 crores, the film could not even manage to cross over 10 crores at the box office. The film was directed by Vikas Bahl and produced by Jackky Bhagnani.
In 2024, T Shroff starred in Jackky Bhagnani’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. The film also starred superstar Akshay Kumar in the lead.
Bade Miyan Chote Miyan was also directed by Sultan and TZH director Ali Abbas Zafar. The expectations were high for Bade Miyan Chote Miyan since it was a large-scale film made on a budget of 350 crores. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan was also considered as Akshay Kumar’s comeback film. Even he is witnessing a massive decline in his Bollywood career with continuous flops.
With massive expectations, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan was released on 11 April 2024. Opened generally to negative reviews, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan collected 15 crores on Day 1. By the end of its run at cinemas, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan could not even collect more than 80 crores in India and became a major flop for T Shroff.
Post Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, critics have criticized T Shroff since he is repeating stunts in every film and there is no improvement in his acting and gripping story in his films. T Shroff has also been advised to reduce his fees by the critics. T who used to charge 25-30 crores per film has been suggested to take home 8-10 crores per film. He even has no films in the pipeline.
Earlier Pathaan and W1 director Sidharth Anand had announced Rambo remake with T Shroff. The remake film was set to be directed by Rohit Dhawan and produced by Sidharth Anand. But post Ganapath and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, the makers are doubting T’s box office pull and reportedly Rambo has been shelved.
Though T is set to play a cameo appearance in Rohit Shetty’s Singham 3. Rohit Shetty’s Singham 3 is another film of him from the universe. Ajay Devgn is the first actor in Rohit Shetty’s universe. Rohit later went on to feature Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Singh in the film Sooryavanshi and Simmba. In Singham 3, Rohit Shetty is introducing two new actors in his universe, and that is T Shroff and Deepika Padukone. Both the actors will play a cameo role in the film.
The reports also suggest that T Shroff and popular filmmaker Karan Johar can collaborate on a large-scale film. T and Karan earlier collaborated for Student of the Year 2 which was a decent hit at the box office. While some reports also suggest that T Shroff is set to star opposite Sara Ali Khan in an film titled ‘Eagle’. Though there has been no official announcement yet.
Besides a guest appearance in Singham 3, T Shroff has no films in their hands. The makers are doubting the film. However, one good film with an engaging story and screenplay can change to fate of T Shroff.
