  • Netflix’s Khel Khel Mein Receives High Praise

    The 2024 comedy drama film Khel Khel Mein is out on Netflix. The film has been trending on Top 10 on Netflix for the last several weeks now. The film has received critical acclaim and praise from viewers who watched the film on the digital platform. But the film flopped at the box office when it was released theatrically.

    For Netflix (India), Khel Khel Mein is their most successful venture of 2024. It is on the edge to become one of the most watched films on the digital platform. But what’s so special about the film?

    Khel Khel Mein

    Khel Khel Mein is a comedy drama film involving a group of friends. It is a very entertaining and comic film. Khel Khel Mein is an official Hindi remake of the 2016 Italian film ‘Perfect Strangers’.

    Perfect Strangers is written and directed by David di Donatello. Perfect Strangers was a commercially successful film and received critical acclaim. It has been remade in a total of 28 languages including the Hindi remake titled Khel Khel Mein.

    Khel Khel Mein revolves around a group of friends who get to gather for a wedding in Jaipur. On one night they get to gather and play a game where all of the friends have to place their mobile phones on the dining table and every time there is a message, notification, or call the receiver has to share the details with other participants.

    Khel Khel Mein is a highly comedy film and quite enjoyable but it flopped at the box office.

    The film was released on 15th August 2024. Khel Khel Mein released with the drama film Vedaa and the horror comedy film Stree 2 on the release day. Stree 2 emerged as a mega blockbuster and the highest grossing Hindi film in India ever while Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa flopped.

    Khel Khel Mein was directed by Mudassar Aziz and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishnan Kumar, and Vipul D Shah. The film was shot in Mumbai, Udaipur and London.

    The film is reportedly made on a budget of 100 crores including fees of 20 crores for its lead actor Akshay Kumar. Khel Khel Mein earned over 55 crores in India in over a month. The film could have easily earned over 100 crores if it had been released a few weeks later and would have avoided the release with Stree 2 and Vedaa.

    Khel Khel Mein features an ensemble cast of Akshay Kumar, Fardeen Khan, Aditya Seal, Vaani Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, Ammy Virk, and Pragya Jaiswal among others. You can watch the film on Netflix.

    Karan Johar has excelled in his dream as a director. All the films directed by him are profitable and have received critical acclaim. He has directed films such as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, MNIK, Student of the Year, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, and Rocky Rani Ki Prem Kahani. After directing some amazing movies now Karan Johar is stepping up to direct his first-ever web series.

    Jet Set Go

    Karan Johar’s yet untitled debut directional web series is reportedly titled Jet Set Go. Jet Set Go is based on the aviation industry. The show will air on Netflix. Since Karan Johar is directing the show, Netflix has premeditated a humongous budget and production to helm the show. The filming of the show begins in February 2025 and will go on throughout the year. The series will be released on Netflix in 2026. According to the reports, three major film actresses are set to come on board to play the lead characters in the show.

    Jet Set Go is Karan Johar’s debut as a director of a web series. Previously he has produced several web series such as The Tribe (Prime Video), Call Me Bae (Prime Video), Gyaarah Gyaarah (Zee 5), Showtime (Hotstar), The Fame Game (Netflix), Bollywood Wives Season 1,2 and 3 (Netflix). Karan Johar also hosted the first edition of Bigg Boss OTT in 2021.

    Karan Johar has really performed well as a director. His 2001 directional film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is award award-winning family drama film. The film features an ensemble cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Rani Mukerji, and Farida Jalal among others. It is probably the biggest mainstream cast any Indian film can ever have. Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is one of the most influential Hindi drama films. Upon its release, the film had widespread positive reviews and emerged as a major commercial success.

    MNIK is Karan Johar’s another directional film that is considered one of the best Indian films ever. The drama film featured Shahrukh Khan and Kajol in the lead roles. Obviously, Shahrukh Khan’s award-winning performance was the major highlight of the film. But Karan Johar had indeed stunned everyone with his writing, screenplay, and direction.

    Karan Johar has also directed a couple of romantic films such as Student of the Year, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, and Rocky Rani Ki Prem Kahani. All his romantic films had huge chartbuster songs and impressive performances by its star cast such as Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Anushka Sharma, Ranbir Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh. All his romantic films received mixed reviews but emerged as a profitable venture for him.

Created by The Viral Fever for Amazon Prime Video, it stars Jitender Kumar as an engineer who joins as a secretary at a Panchayat office in a local village. The show features Neena Gupta as the leader of the village and Raghubir Yadav as her husband. Faisal Malik and Chandan Roy star as other members of the Panchayat office.

    Panchayat Season One has received widespread popularity for its simple storyline, screenplay, emotion, and comedy. The second season too received overwhelming responses from the viewers. The third season of Panchayat is set to release on May 28, 2024. It is the most critically acclaimed TV show in India.

    Mirzapur Season 3

    The Mirzapur Series is one of the most enjoyed TV Shows in India and amongst the most successful TV shows which has received positive responses from critics.

    Overall, the viewers have enjoyed the show and the banter between its lead cast. The first season opened to an overwhelming response while the second season was one of the most-watched TV Shows in India. The series is returning with a third season that is slated to release in 2024.     Paatal Lok Season 2

    Unlike Panchayat, Mirzapur and Family Man, Paatal Lok hasn’t featured for more than one season. But it is still one of the most loved shows in India and for Amazon Prime Video. It is produced by Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma’s production company Clean Slate Films. The first season was released in India in 2020.

    Paatal Lok opened to rave reviews from the audience and received critical acclaim. The show was immediately renewed for a second season in 2021. Amazon Prime has confirmed the second season to be released in early 2025. Jaideep Ahlawat and Ishwak Singh will reprise their role once again with an additional new cast.

    SO Season 2

    Released in March 2020, Hotstar’s SO had opened to overwhelming response and big numbers. Neeraj Pandey’s show was originally planned as a TV Show in 2010. He later re-energized the project and shot in many countries.

    Starring Kay Kay Menon, Karan Tacker, and Sajjad Delafrooz in leads SO Season 1 was a massive hit and was renewed for another season. Surprisingly a mini-series titled SO Season 1.5 was released in 2021 which was a decent hit. However, the viewers are now looking forward to the second season that is slated to release in 2025.

    BB Season 2

    Amazon Prime Video’s much-loved musical romantic drama BB is due for another season. The show starring Ritwik Bhowmik and Shreya Chaudhary was released in 2020 with ten episodes. BB was another big success for Amazon Prime Video. The series helmed by Anand Tiwari is due for its second season and is slated to release soon.

    Citadel: Honey Bunny

    American series Citadel which was created by Josh Appelbaum and produced by the Russo Brothers has an Indian version spin-off titled Citadel: Honey Bunny. While Citadel stars Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra, the Indian version stars Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu.

    It also stars Kay Kay Menon and Saqib Saleem in key roles. The Indian version is helmed by Raj & DK who are known for creating several iconic OTT shows like the Family Man series, G & Gulaabs, and Farzi. Citadel: Honey Bunny is slated to release soon.

    C Justice Season 4

    Hotstar’s C Justice series is now one of the most popular OTT series in India with over three successful seasons. The fourth season is slated to release soon. It starred Pankaj Tripathi as a common honest lawyer in all the seasons and he is set to reprise his role in the fourth season as well.

    Delhi C Season 3

    Netflix’s Delhi C Season 1 won the Best Drama Series award at the International Emmy Awards. Released in March 2019, Delhi C Season 1 was based on true stories. The second season was released in 2022 based on a real-life event. The series is due for a third season. Delhi C originally stars Shefali Shah as Vartika Chaturvedi, Rajesh Tailang as Bhupendra Singh, Rasika Dugal as Neeti Singh, and Adil Hussain as Kumar Hussain.
