  • Pathaan Director Siddharth Anand Teams Up With Akshay Kumar

    Siddharth Anand is the grandson of screenwriter Inder Raj Anand and his father is Bittu Anand who produced one of India’s iconic movies Shahenshah in 1988.

    In 2023, Siddharth Anand founded his production company called Marflix Pictures. His production company would focus on producing large-scale drama films for theatres and digital platforms. According to the reports, actor Akshay Kumar has signed a big drama film with Siddharth Anand.

    Talking about Akshay Kumar, the last several films of him are disasters or have flopped at the box office. After tasting widespread success and delivering consecutive blockbuster films for a decade, the last ten to twelve films of Akshay Kumar have failed.

    But he has a few promising releases in 2025. In 2025, Akshay Kumar will star in the lead in films such as Jolly LLB 3, Sky Force, and Welcome to the Jungle (Welcome 3). As of now, his film with Siddharth Anand is not officially announced yet. The film may go on floors in 2025 with a release in 2026.

    Akshay Kumar along with Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty are part of India’s most loved comedy films Hera Pheri and Phir Hera Pheri. Both the Hera Pheri films have achieved cult status and are amongst the best comedy films of all time. The Hera Pheri films are amongst the greatest Indian films of all time. A possible sequel titled ‘Hera Pheri 3’ is in the news but nothing has been announced yet. Upon its release, Hera Pheri 3 will break several records and will surely emerge as Akshay’s highest-grossing film ever.

    A little about Siddharth Anand

    Siddharth made his directional debut with Yash Raj Films (YRF)’s 2005 produced film Salaam Namaste starring Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta. The film received positive reviews and was commercially successful. The trio of Aditya Chopra (Head of YRF), Saif Ali Khan, and Siddharth Anand collaborated on another project titled ‘Ta Ra Rum Pum’ with Rani Mukerji as the female lead. Ta Ra Rum Pum received mixed reviews and was a decent success at the box office.

    Siddharth Anand’s breakthrough came with the romantic comedy film ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ which was released in 2008 and was commercially successful. The film starred Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Bipasha Basu, and Minissha Lamha.

    After directing a series of romantic films, Siddharth Anand moved forward to focus on large-scale and high-budget films.

    In 2014, he directed Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif in his film titled ‘Bang Bang’. Bang Bang is a remake of the Hollywood film Knight and Day (2010). Though the film attracted mixed to negative reviews, Bang Bang was a big commercial success.

    Siddharth Anand later collaborated with YRF for the film ‘W1’ (2019), a part of the YRF Universe. Siddharth Anand directed W1 as a standalone film. The YRF production company extended the idea of the their Universe later. Upon its release, W1 (2019) received mixed reviews due to its story and screenplay. However, the film was praised for its cinematography, VFX, and stunt sequences. The film broke several box office records and emerged as one of the highest-grossing Hindi films ever.

    W1 (2019) starred Hrithik Roshan and T Shroff in the lead roles. The story and the characters of W1 had no association with YRF’s other films ETT and TZH which stars Salman Khan. It was during the filming of Pathaan (2023) that Aditya Chopra got the idea to create the Universe.

    YRF Universe

    In 2023, Siddharth Anand delivered the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time. He directed Shahrukh Khan’s Pathaan (2023) and initiated the YRF Universe. Pathaan broke several records and became the highest-grossing Hindi film beating Baahubali 2. It also became the first Hindi film to enter the 500-crore club in India. Pathaan grossed over 1000+ crores globally cementing a strong place for YRF Universe in Indian Film Industry. Pathaan also starred John Abraham and Deepika Padukone. The film received praise for lavish drama sequences and over-the-top stunts.     Today, Siddharth Anand is amongst the biggest filmmakers in India. His films are not critically acclaimed. But he knows how to produce large-scale films. His last aerial drama film ‘FTR’ received mixed to negative reviews. Despite this, the film grossed over 300+ crores globally becoming a success. FTR (2024) starred Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor among others.

    Siddharth Anand and his wife Mamta Anand launched their new production company Marflix Pictures in Mumbai. Under their production company ‘Marflix Pictures’, Siddharth Anand produced FTR (2024). Now, Siddharth Anand is looking to produce several large-scale and high-budget films. Siddharth Anand’s upcoming produced film is ‘The Jewel: The Red Sun Chapter’ starring Saif Ali Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat. The film is produced by Marflix Pictures and will release on Netflix.

    Siddharth Anand is also co-producing Shahrukh Khan’s upcoming big entertainer titled ‘King’. King will be directed by Sujoy Ghosh. The film marks the debut of Shahrukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan. Shahrukh Khan is co-producing the film with Siddharth Anand. Also, Shahrukh Khan plays a prominent role in the film with Abhishek Bachchan as the main antagonist. The film is set to release in 2025. The Jewel and King are under production.

    Meanwhile, Siddharth Anand has just confirmed another film that will be produced by Marflix Pictures. The untitled film will be directed by Milan Luthria and it will star Akshay Kumar in the main lead. It is another large-scale film that will feature Akshay Kumar like never before. Milan Luthria is a renowned film personality known for directing films such as Taxi No 9211, Once Upon a Time In Mumbai, and Baadshaho.

    With King, Akshay’s untitled film, and Saif Ali Khan’s next Netflix film, Siddharth is set to take his production company ahead. He has written several large-scale drama and superhero films. He is carrying the vision to produce some of the best Indian films ever.

  • Deepika Padukone Is Now Part of All The Leading Indian Film Franchises

    The future is bright for Deepika Padukone as she is now part of some of India’s leading film franchises such as YRF’s Universe, Rohit Shetty’s Universe, Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra Universe and Nag Ashwin’s Kalki Cinematic Universe.

    Following her Hindi film debut in 2007, Deepika Padukone is now possibly the biggest female actor of the Indian Cinema. Her recent release Kalki 2898 AD has opened to international critical acclaim and is on the verge of emerging as one of the highest-grossing films in India.

    Deepika Padukone made her film debut with a 2006 Kannada language film titled ‘Aishwarya’. The actress is originally from Bangalore.

    However, she got her breakthrough by debuting in the 2007 Hindi language film ‘Om Shanti Om’. The film featured prominent Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan opposite her. The film Om Shanti Om gained widespread popularity and Deepika Padukone became a household name in India. Following the success of Om Shanti Om, Deepika starred in many hit films such as Bachna Ae Haseeno, Love Aaj Kaal, Desi Boyz, Housefull, Cocktail, and Race 2.

    In 2013, Deepika Padukone had her best movie year by starring in three major commercially successful films. Her first release of 2013 was Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. She was paired with Ranbir Kapoor and the film was directed by Ayan Mukerji. Upon its release, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani received widespread critical acclaim and became one of the highest-grossing films of 2013. Her second release of 2013 was Chennai Express where she was paired opposite Shahrukh Khan. Deepika’s last and third release of 2013 was with Ranveer Singh in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela. The film had opened to positive reviews and remerged a big success.

    Post-2013, she starred in many hit films such as Happy New Year, Padmaavat, Bajirao Mastani, and Piku. Her last Hindi release was a film titled ‘FTR’ where she was paired opposite Hrithik Roshan. The film starred Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone Pilots and the film was directed by Sidharth Anand. Despite opening to mixed reviews, FTR was commercially successful.

    YRF Universe, RS Universe, Brahmastra Universe, and Kalki Cinematic Universe

    In January 2023, Deepika alongside Shahrukh Khan featured in YRF’s Universe’s Pathaan. YRF’s Universe is Bollywood’s biggest and most successful film franchise. The YRF Universe films are ETT (2012), TZH (2017), W1 (2019), Pathaan (2023), and T3 (2023).

    The next film from the YRF Universe is W2 which marks the Hindi debut of Telugu superstar Jr NTR. The YRF Universe film includes leading actors of Bollywood such as Salman Khan as T, Shahrukh Khan as Pathaan, Hrithik Roshan as Kabir, Katrina Kaif as Zoya, and Deepika Padukone as Rubina. Pathaan (2023) is one of the highest-grossing Indians ever collecting over 1000 crores. A sequel of Pathaan titled Pathaan 2 is confirmed and Deepika Padukone will likely reprise her role. With The YRF Universe, Deepika is a part of one of India’s leading film franchises.

    In 2024, Deepika Padukone will be seen making a special appearance in Rohit Shetty’s Universe film titled ‘Singham Again’. Rohit Shetty’s Universe is another big and successful Indian film franchise and now Deepika is part of it too.

    Rohit Shetty’s Universe films are Singham (2011), Singham Returns (2014), Simmba (2018), Sooryavanshi (2021), and Singham Again which is slated to release in 2024. Rohit Shetty’s Universe comprises big actors like Ajay Devgn as Bajirao Singham, Akshay Kumar as Veer Sooryavanshi, and Ranveer Singh as Simmba. Alongside Deepika Padukone, T Shroff is the newest addition to Rohit Shetty’s Universe. While Deepika will make a special appearance in Singham Again, she is projected to work on a standalone female film with Rohit Shetty.

    Deepika Padukone is now also part of Nag Ashwin’s ambitious film franchise Cinematic Universe. The first part of Kalki 2898 AD was released recently with Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Hassan in the leads.

    With a budget of over 600 crores, Kalki 2898 AD is the most expensive Indian film ever. Released on 27 June 2024, Kalki 2898 AD has received international critical acclaim and is called one of the best films of the decade. The film is directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by C. Ashwini Dutt. The film has already collected over 500 crores in four days and is expected to gross over 1500 crores making it one of the highest-grossing Indian films ever. With Kalki 2898 AD, Deepika is now part of one of the biggest film franchises in the Telugu Film Industry. The second part of Kalki 2898 AD is set to be released in the coming years.

    Besides, YRF’s Universe, Rohit Shetty’s Universe, and Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD, Deepika is also part of Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra.

    Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra was one of the most awaited films ever since it was announced in 2014. The film faced numerous delays and was finally released in 2022. The film is directed by Ayan Mukerji and it is produced by Karan Johar.

    Brahmastra had opened to mixed reviews and was appreciated for its screenplay, execution, graphics, and VFX. The film was commercially successful. The film starred an ensemble cast of Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna. The film had a guest appearance by Shahrukh Khan and an uncredited cameo of Deepika Padukone. The second part and the third part of Brahmastra are slated to release in the coming years with Deepika Padukone playing one of the leads.

    With being a major part of India’s four leading film franchises, Deepika has cemented her place as India’s leading female actor. However, she has a tough coemption from Alia Bhatt who has quite a few big films on her hand.

    As of now, Deepika will be taking a maternity film. All of her recent films have been released and she is not part of any film shooting schedule for at least a year. She will be seen next only in Rohit Shetty’s ‘Singham Returns’ which releases in November 2024.

    Having made his debut in 1992, Shahrukh Khan delivered quite a few hits and classic films such as Baazigar, Darr, Karan Arjun, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Dil To Pagal Hai, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Badshaah in the ’90s.

    Between 2002-2013, he played the lead in many blockbusters and iconic films such as Devdas, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Main Hoon Na, Veer Zara, Swades, D Part 1 and D Part 2, Chak De India, Om Shanti Om, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, MNIK, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, and Chennai Express. All highly celebrated, successful, and critically acclaimed movies.

    In 2014 and 2015, Shahrukh Khan starred in Happy New Year and Dilwale, both films were commercially successful but received mixed to negative reviews. In 2016 he starred in Maneesh Sharma’s film Fan which was the first flop film for Shahrukh Khan after a long time. The film received negative reviews and was a flop at the box office. In 2017, he starred in Rahul Dholakia’s Raees which did pretty decent business at the box office but did not do perform extraordinarily.

    Shahrukh Khan’s career took a major setback when he starred in Imtiaz Ali’s Jab Harry Met Sejal. The film starred Anushka Sharma opposite Shahrukh Khan. Released in 2017, Jab Harry Met Sejal received highly negative reviews and emerged as a box office flop. Shahrukh Khan and Imtiaz Ali were highly criticized for doing the film.

    Post Jab Harry Met Sejal, Shahrukh Khan starred in Anand L Rai’s Zero with Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif. Zero was one of the most anticipated films of 2018. The film also starred Salman Khan, Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Karisma Kapoor, Kajol, Sridevi, Juhi Chawla, and Alia Bhatt in guest appearances. Upon its release, Zero opened to highly negative reviews and was declared a box office flop.

    After a series of flop and average films such as Fan, Happy New Year, Dilwale, Jab Harry Met Sejal, and Zero, Shahrukh Khan took a major hiatus of five years.

    Released in 2013, Chennai Express was his last blockbuster film that was cherished by the audience. Many even thought that the actor was finished and he would no longer taste success in his film career. The actor had no major film release till 2023. However, he made special appearances in 2022 films such as Rocketry, Brahmastra, and Laal Singh Chaddha.

    After a hiatus of five years, Shahrukh Khan returned in 2023 with three major film releases.

    In January 2023 he starred Yash Raj Film’s Pathaan from the YRF Universe. Pathaan stars Shahrukh Khan alongside Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. Salman Khan who stars as T in YRF’s ETT and TZH reprised his role in Pathaan by doing a guest appearance. Pathaan was made on a budget of 225 crores and was released on 25 January 2023. The film is directed by Sidharth Anand.

    Upon its release, Pathaan received highly positive reviews and was named it a very entertaining high-octane film. Pathaan broke several records and emerged as one of the highest-grossing Indian films ever. By the end of its theatrical run, Pathaan was declared the biggest blockbuster by grossing over 1000+ crores at the box office. It was the beginning of Shahrukh Khan’s epic comeback.

    In the same year, in September, Shahrukh Khan played the lead in the film Jawan alongside, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, and Deepika Padukone (special appearance). Jawan was another high-octane epic film by Shahrukh Khan after Pathaan. The film is directed by Atlee. Upon its release, Jawan was declared a blockbuster on the first day itself. The film broke several box office records to emerge as a major commercially successful film. The film shattered all the records created by Pathaan and registered new box office records that are perhaps difficult for any other film to break anytime soon. Like Pathaan, Jawan too grossed over 1000+ crores at the box office.

    With Pathaan and Jawan, Shahrukh Khan made the biggest comeback in the history of Indian Cinema. He was the most popular star in India throughout the year. In December 2023 he had his final and third release of the year with Rajkumar Hirani. The actor acted in Rajkumar Hirani’s drama film Dunki alongside Taapsee Pannu, Boman Hirani, Anil Grover, Vikram Kochhar, and Vicky Kaushal (special appearance). Dunki, however, received mixed reviews and did not perform like Pathaan and Jawan. But the film was still commercially successful for the makers.

    Following a five-year hiatus, Shahrukh Khan had three major commercial hits in 2023 which once again cemented his status as the King of Indian Cinema. He made one of the biggest comebacks in the history of World Cinema. But now what’s next for him now?

    There is no major release of Shahrukh Khan as of now. According to the reports, the actor will soon start shooting for a film titled King. King is an big entertainer film that marks the debut of Shahrukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan. The film is directed by Sujoy Dosh and produced by Shahrukh Khan and Sidharth Anand. Shahrukh Khan plays a extensive special appearance in the film.

    Besides King, a sequel to Pathaan 2 is confirmed and Shahrukh Khan will reprise his role. Besides YRF is also planning a movie with Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan called T vs P. This will be YRF’s most ambitious film from the Universe. Shahrukh Khan will face off against Salman Khan in T vs P.

    Both Pathaan 2 and T vs P will take quite a few years to release. Shahrukh Khan will be seen next in King which is currently under production. The film is said to be shot in many international locations. The film is set to be released in 2025.
