Jai Bhim
Jai Bhim tops our list. It is one of the best Indian films one can ever watch on Prime Video. Jai Bhim is highly regarded as one of the best Indian films ever made. The film stars Suriya, Lijomol Jose, Manikandan, Rajisha Vijayan, and Prakash Raj among others. It is a legal drama film directed by T. J. Gnanavel and produced by Jyothika and Suriya. Jai Bhim is based on police bias and violence against a community and is based on a true incident that happened in 1993. Soorarai Pottru is another film of Suriya’s that was released on Prime Video. The film was originally made to release in theatres but got postponed due to the COVID pandemic and makers took the direct to streaming release route for their film. Soorarai Pottru is one of the best films ever made in India. The film was released on 12 November 2020 to widespread critical acclaim and appreciation for Suriya’s performance. The film is based on a true story and inspired by the life of G. R. Gopinath. G. R. Gopinath is a retired captain of the Indian Army who founded a low-cost airline for poor citizens of India. The film tells his story of struggle and difficulties in building the airline company. Soorarai Pottru won five awards at the 68th National Film Awards. The lead actor Suriya won Best Actor, Aparna (Best Actress), Best Screenplay, Best Background Score, and Best Feature Film. While Soorarai Pottru is originally a Tamil film, popular Hindi actor Akshay Kumar is set to reprise Suriya’s role in the Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru titled Sarfira which is set to release soon.
Drishyam 2 (2021) (Malayalam)
The Drishyam series is regarded as one of the best cop crime thriller film franchises ever made in India. The first part of Drishyam was released in 2013. Owning to its success, strong screenplay, and script the film was remade in Telugu with Venkatesh and in Hindi with Ajay Devgn. Popular Malayalam actor Mohanlal reprised the male lead in Drishyam. Drishyam 2 was a highly awaited movie. The film was released on Prime Video to widespread critical acclaim. Post Drishyam 2 (Malayalam) the film was once again remade in Hindi and Telugu.
