Kartik Aaryan is here to stay
Kartik Aaryan or Ranbir Kapoor, who is the new superstar in town? Talking about Ranbir, he is the new-age superstar of Bollywood. Following the epic success of Animal and many more fascinating films in the pipeline, Ranbir Kapoor has transformed himself into a Global Movie Superstar in the making.
He is one of the new generation actors who is setting up to compete with some of the biggest movie stars of Indian cinema such as Prabhas, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Ram Charan, Jr NTR, and Mahesh Babu. While nobody is denying the fact that he is talented and justifies his big evolving rank in the film industry, it has been a relaxed journey for him since he storms from a gigantic Bollywood family, ‘The Kapoors’. His parents are film stars Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor. His cousins are Kareena Kapoor Khan and Karishma Kapoor.
Ranbir Kapoor is a phenomenal actor but we have another star who is climbing the stairways of stardom and success, and he is none other than Kartik Aaryan. The newest Superstar in town. And to highpoint the best part, Kartik Aaryan hails from a non-filmy background. It has been a journey of difficulties and dejection for him.
Born in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh on 22 November 1990, Kartik Aaryan’s parents are doctors. After finishing his school, Kartik Aaryan arrived in Mumbai to pursue engineering in biotechnology from D. Y. Patil College of Engineering, Navi Mumbai. While his parents seemed self-assured about their son’s perseverance in engineering, Kartik Aaryan surreptitiously started his film journey of becoming an actor. At that time who would have thought that this guy from a small town would become a massive movie star of the Indian Film Industry?
During his struggling days, Kartik stayed in Navi Mumbai and he had to skip his classes and travel to main Mumbai for modelling and acting auditions. He used to travel in local trains and it took him two hours of traveling. He used to stay at a cheap local hostel with at least 10 guys in a single room with a common washroom. Today he owns a luxurious apartment in Juhu which is one of Mumbai’s most expensive localities. He owns several super, luxury, and sports cars.
Kartik started his career with modelling while doing his engineering degree. He also auditioned for several films. But after a few years of letdown in auditions, Kartik applied for an acting course at the Kreating Charakters Institute in Mumbai. Even after signing his first film, Kartik Aaryan did not inform his parents about his dream of becoming an actor. He did finish his studies and got an engineering degree.
Kartik Aaryan’s first film was with director Luv Ranjan in 2011. He made his acting debut as a lead actor in Luv Ranjan’s Pyaar Ka Punchnama. A comedy-drama buddy film that emerged as a decent hit at the box office. In Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Kartik’s four-minute-long monologue on relationships was very popular among the audience. Kartik got to know about auditions through Facebook and after six months of prep, he eventually signed the Pyaar Ka Punchnama.

Kartik did achieve a bit of fame after doing Pyaar Ka Punchnama and appeared in two more films but it didn’t work in his favour. In 2015, Kartik Aaryan and Luv Ranjan collaborated again for a sequel of Pyaar Ka Punchnama titled Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2. Again, in Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2, Kartik delivered his famous monologue on girlfriends and relationships but this was a seven-minute-long monologue that became an instant hit. The songs were viral, and Kartik won his first award as Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 was very popular among the youth audience and emerged as a big success.
The biggest breakthrough for Kartik Aaryan came in 2018 when he again collaborated with Luv Ranjan for another relationship drama comedy film. The film was titled ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’. As weird as it sounds, many in Bollywood thought it was a bizarre title for a film and would be a flop movie. But Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety emerged as one of the biggest hits of 2018 and one of the most popular films ever. Although Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety was criticized for misogyny, the film did amazing numbers at the box office and emerged as Kartik’s first 100-crore film. The song album of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety is still very popular. Post Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, there was no stopping for Kartik Aaryan. He emerged as one of the most popular new-generation actors in Bollywood.
Following Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Kartik starred in Luka Chuppi and Pati Patni Aur Woh. Both films were commercially successful cementing Kartik’s faithful place at the box office. Post-pandemic, in 2022, Kartik Aaryan starred in Anees Bazmee’s comedy horror film Bhool Bhualiyaa 2 which emerged as the biggest hit (Hindi) after the pandemic.
In 2024 he is all set to star in Bhool Bhualiyaa 3 which also stars Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit with Tripti Dimri as his love interest. While Bhool Bhualiyaa 3 releases in November 2024, Kartik Aaryan’s first release of 2024 comes out on June 15.
Chandu Champion is a biopic film on India’s first Paralympics gold medallist Murlikant Petkar and stars Kartik Aaryan as Murlikant Petkar. The film is directed by Kabir Khan, the maestro behind directing iconic films like Ek Tha Tiger, 83, and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Chandu Champion is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.
Kartik signed Chandu Champion while shooting for his OTT digital film Freedy for which he had gained 14 kilos. Kartik underwent a serious body transformation for Chandu Champion by going from a shocking body fat percentage of 39% to 7% in 14 months.
Kartik Aaryan calls Chandu Champion the most difficult and special film of his career. The film is slated to release on 15th June and is predicted to perform well at the box office. Recently a screening of the same film was organized in Delhi for Indian army officers.
Post Chandu Champion, Kartik has numerous propitious films in the pipeline. After Ranbir Kapoor, he is the only new-gen actor with uprightness and commitment towards his work, a variety of exciting films, and a massive fan following.
It is surely his time to shine. The upcoming decade belongs to him. Many big filmmakers are looking to sign him in their upcoming projects.
