Ranbir Kapoor is here to challenge the biggest superstars of the country. The three Khans of Bollywood – the three leading actors of Bollywood. The biggest movie stars in India in terms of popularity, longevity, stardom, and box office. Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan, and Aamir Khan have been ruling the Indian cinema for the last three decades.

All three Khans have seen their ups and downs, there have been many good actors who have tried to leave them behind, and there have been a lot of controversies and negativity surrounding them but they have always stood tall and nobody has been able to crush them. All thanks to their die-hard fans.

But here’s the newest entry in the Superstar League who is now challenging the mighty Khans in terms of box office, popularity, and stardom. It’s none other than Ranbir Kapoor. The rise of Ranbir Kapoor is astonishing. It’s because he has never been consistent in delivering consecutive box-office blockbusters. Although he has been a fan’s favourite ever since he made his debut in 2007 in Saawariya.

Ranbir Kapoor has pulled the gear in 2023. He is now amongst the most prominent actor in Indian cinema. His acting skills, his politeness, his humble nature, and as well as his respect towards senior actors have made him every filmmaker’s first choice.

After making his Bollywood debut with Saawariya, Ranbir Kapoor started in Wake Up Sid and Bachna Ae Heaseeo, both commercially successful films which boosted his popularity. He then starred in Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani which was another hit film for him and the fourth highest-grossing film of 2009. However, his 2010 political drama film Raajneeti became his biggest hit, and his acting skills were exceedingly cherished by everyone. He even received a Best Actor nomination at the Filmfare Awards. The film won him critical acclaim for his performance.

In 2011, Ranbir Kapoor starred in Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar. Rockstar is considered one of the best Hindi films ever made and the best film of all time. Ranbir’s acting and performance were highly praised at that time and he won several awards for it. He still gets a lot of appreciation for his performance in Rockstar. In 2012 Ranbir once again exhibited his great acting ability in Anurag Basu’s Barfi. Barfi was India’s official entry at the 85th Academy Awards. While Ranbir won consecutive Best Actor awards.

In 2013 Ranbir Kapoor saw the biggest highlight of his career where he delivered his biggest hit at that time and starred in one of the most popular Hindi films of all time. Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapoor, and Kalki Koechlin, Ayan Mukerji’s Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani is still considered a cult film and one of the best films ever made in Indian cinema. But, after Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani, Ranbir witnessed a decline his in career. Barring Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, his films such as Tamasha, Roy, Jagga Jassos, Beshram, and Bombay Velvet struggled commercially.

But again, his career witnessed a major growth where he delivered one of his biggest hits of all time. In 2018, he portrayed popular Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt in his biopic film titled Sanju which was directed by Rajkumar Hirani, one of the highly acclaimed filmmakers of all time. Ranbir was highly acclaimed for his performance as Sanjay Dutt while the biopic film grossed over 500 crores at the worldwide box office.

Post Sanju, Ranbir Kapoor took a major hiatus from Bollywood. He returned in 2022 post the COVID pandemic. He starred in Shamshera which opened to a poor response from the audience and was declared a big box office disaster. But post-Shamshera there has been no stopping for Ranbir Kapoor.

He once again delivered a few consecutive hits such as Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar, and Animal. While Brahmastra and Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar did good numbers at the box office. Animal is Ranbir’s highest-grossing film and one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of all time.

Ranbir Kapoor’s brand value and aura have risen to an incredible extent following the massive success of his last film Animal.

Opened to mixed reviews, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal starring Ranbir Kapoor grossed over 500 crores at the domestic box office and grossed over 900 crores at the worldwide box office. It was another Sandeep Reddy Vanga film which was highly criticized for glorifying misogyny and toxic masculinity. Although Ranbir was highly loathed for his character but his performance full of swag and machoism was cherished by everyone.

Post Animal, Ranbir Kapoor is set to star as Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming Ramayana. Ranbir is also set to reprise his role in the sequel of Animal. Again, he is set to reprise his role in Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra. He is also set to star in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next film with his wife Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. If presented well and accurately, Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana could be the biggest hit of all time. It stars Sai Pallavi as Mata Sita, KGF fame Yash as Ravana, and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman. It is one of the most expensive Hindi films ever. The expectations are sky-high from Ramayana. The film can easily gross over 1000+ crores.

Whereas Animal Park, a sequel to Animal is in the pipeline. Concerning the popularity of Animal (2023), Animal Park will easily emerge as one of the biggest hits of all time when released.

Popularity, stardom, and now the box office, there is no doubt that Ranbir Kapoor is one of the biggest actors in Indian cinema and one of the most desirable actors in Bollywood. He is already in the league of Khans. While Shahrukh Khan recently delivered two biggest hits of Bollywood in 2023, Salman Khan’s last big hit came in 2017 while Aamir Khan saw his last hit film in 2016. Though nobody can write off Salman and Aamir. They both have a promising release in 2025 which could be a game-changer for them.

But it is Ranbir Kapoor who is now ruling Bollywood for the upcoming years. Guess his daughter Raha, born in 2022, is fortunate for him. The actor is all set to move into his new Bungalow built in the posh Palli Hill area of Mumbai.
