Vicky Kaushal’s Best Is Yet To Come

He is the find of the decade. He is one of the greatest actors of this generation.

Vicky Kaushal’s latest comedy flick titled ‘Bad News’ has been released recently. Whereas the actor has another prominent film to be released in December 2024.

Vicky Kaushal is 36 years old. He doesn’t belong to a big filmy background family but his father Sham Kaushal is a prominent action director who has been working in films for the past two decades. Vicky Kaushal is an engineer who left the IT field to pursue a career in Bollywood. Vicky Kaushal started his career as an assistant director to Anurag Kashyap in his 2012 widespread critical acclaim film series Gang of Wasseypur and made short appearances in a few of his films.

Vicky Kaushal’s leading performance in the main lead came with Masaan (2015). Masaan opened to widespread critical acclaim and is still regarded as one of the best films ever made in India. The film was directed by Neeraj Ghaywan who assisted Anurag Kashyap in Gang of Wasseypur alongside Vicky. Masaan also starred Richa Chadha, Shweta Tripathi, Sanjay Mishra, and Pankaj Tripathi alongside Vicky Kaushal. The film received several awards for its makers and actors. In 2015, Vicky also starred in another critically acclaimed film titled ‘Zubaan’. The film is directed by Mozez Singh and stars Sarah Jane Dias, Raaghav Chanana, Manish Chaudhary, and Meghna Malik among others.

Vicky Kaushal achieved a breakthrough in 2018 when he starred in the first-ever Netflix India original internet streaming movie. The film was titled ‘Love Per Square Foot’ and starred Angira Dhar opposite Vicky Kaushal. The film received positive reviews. Vicky achieved greater success in 2018 with Meghna Gulzar’s spy thriller film Raazi starring Alia Bhatt. The film was a major commercial success at the box office. In 2018, Vicky Kaushal also starred in noted filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani’s biopic directional film Sanju, a movie based on the life of actor Sanjay Dutt. While Ranbir Kapoor starred as Sanjay Dutt, Vicky Kaushal starred as his best friend. Sanju ranks amongst the highest-grossing Hindi films by grossing over 500 crores globally. Vicky was highly praised for his performance in Raazi and Sanju. By the end of 2018, Vicky Kaushal had two more prominent releases. His second collaboration of 2018 with Netflix came with the anthology film Lust Stories. His last film release of 2018 came with his mentor Anurag Kashyap. He starred in the love triangle movie Manmarziyaan alongside Abhishek Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu. Both the films, Lust Stories and Manmarziyaan received positive reviews.

His name is Vicky Kaushal and, surely, he is here to stay and his best is yet to come.

In 2019, Vicky Kaushal achieved his first biggest hit film solely. He starred in director Aditya Dhar’s military action film URI: The Surgical Strike alongside Yami Gautam, Paresh Rawal, Mohit Raina, and Rajit Kapur among others. URI: The Surgical Strike is based on the true stories of the 2016 Uri Attacks. The film starred Vicky Kaushal as Major Vihaan of PARA (Special Forces) for which he went through six months of intense training and workout. Film URI: The Surgical Strike received critical acclaim and was praised for its screenplay, direction, performance, songs, and story. By the end of its theatrical run, URI: The Surgical Strike became a major commercial success and is one of the highest-grossing Hindi films ever. The film received a cult following upon its release. Besides several other awards, URI: The Surgical Strike won the Best Actor Award for Vicky Kaushal and the Best Director Award for Aditya Dhar at the National Film Awards.

Post the COVID pandemic and lockdown, Vicky Kaushal had two films released digitally on online streaming platforms. His first digital release was ‘Sardar Udham’ a biographical historical film based on the life of Udham Singh. Udham Singh assassinated Michael O’Dwyer in London to avenge the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar. Sardar Udham received positive reviews and critical acclaim. His second digital film release was the comedy film ‘Govinda Naam Mera’ besides Kiara Advani. In between, the actor got married to Katrina Kaif in 2022.

In 2023, Vicky Kaushal had three film releases with two films ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke’ and ‘Sam Bahadur’ both performing well at the box office. Zara Hatke Zara Bachke is a romantic comedy flick opposite Sara Ali Khan. Sam Bahadur is a historical biographical film based on the life of General Sam Manekshaw. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Sam Bahadur clashed against Ranbir Kapoor’s release Animal and still managed to perform well at the box office. The film received positive reviews and critical acclaim. Vicky Kaushal also played a guest appearance in noted filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani’s directional Dunki. The blockbuster film starred Shahrukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani, Vikram Kocchar, and Anil Grover among others.

As of now, Vicky Kaushal has two releases in 2024 with one film released. He starred in director Anand Tiwari’s Bad News alongside Tripti Dimri and Ammy Virk. Bad News is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and is performing well at the box office. Vicky’s final release of 2024 is a film titled ‘Chhava’. Chaava is a historical periodic drama film directed by Laxman Utekar. The film stars Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandhanna, Ashutosh Rana, Akshaye Khanna, and Divya Dutta among others. Vicky Kaushal stars as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Chhava. The film is said to be his best work to date.

Vicky Kaushal has only one release in 2025 which is his biggest project to date. The actor is confirmed to star in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next. Earlier this year, one of India’s biggest directors Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced his upcoming romantic drama film titled ‘Love And War’. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal in the lead. The film is currently under production and set to be released during Christmas 2025.

Chhava and Love And War are the only films by Vicky Kaushal confirmed as of now. Though the actor is discussing quite a few films with other directors.
