Priyanka Chopra often visits Mumbai, India for events and significant functions. In 2021 during a visit to Mumbai, Priyanka Chopra was confirmed to feature in the film ‘Jee Le Zaraa’.
Jee Le Zaraa is an adventure comedy drama film presented by the makers of the films Zindagi Na Milengi Dobarra and Dil Dhadakne Do.
Zindagi Na Milengi Dobarra (2011) is an adventure comedy drama film written by Farhan Akhtar and directed by his sister Zoya Akhtar. The film stars Abhay Deol, Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Katrina Kaif, and Kalki Koechlin among others.
Zindagi Na Milengi Dobarra is possibly the best Indian road trip, travel, adventure, comedy, and drama film. it has received several awards and has met critical acclaim. It is highly regarded as one of the best Indian films ever. The film is largely shot in Europe.
The makers of Zindagi Na Milengi Dobarra have said that they want to bring another such film with three leading actresses of Bollywood.
In 2021, siblings Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar announced Jee Le Zaraa with Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, and Katrina Kaif in the lead. It was the biggest news of 2021. The film was supposed to be released in 2023 or 2024. But as of now, even the pre-production of the film is yet to begin.
Earlier it was reported that Jee Le Zaraa has been shelved. But Farhan Akhtar recently confirmed that they are making the film and it is their dream project. He added that it is a very big film with three major film actresses. He said they need a very big casting as they are looking for three major actors to feature alongside the actresses and several other actors. The film will be shot extensively for a year in Europe. Farhan confirmed that Jee Le Zaraa will happen for sure.
Jee Le Zaraa is the only confirmed Hindi project of Priyanka Chopra. There is no other Hindi film that she would be interested in doing. She is primarily committed to shooting for her Hollywood projects.
To be honest, Jee Le Zaraa might take several years to happen. Writer Farhan Akhtar and director Zoya Akhtar may not have realized the volume of this film when they announced it hurriedly.
Fans in India have to wait for long to see Priyanka Chopra in a Hindi film.
Priyanka Chopra’s Hollywood Dream
Priyanka Chopra’s last full-fledged Hindi film in a lead came in 2015. She featured in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic drama film Bajirao Mastani alongside Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. It was a major commercial success with Priyanka Chopra receiving critical acclaim for her performance. It was her last major Hindi film.
After Bajirao Mastani, Priyanka Chopra moved to the US and featured in Hollywood films such as Baywatch (2017), A Kid Like Jake (2018), Isn’t It Romantic (2018) and Chasing Happiness (2019).
In 2018, Priyanka Chopra was signed to play the female lead in the film ‘Bharat’. She was paired with her friend and Indian movie superstar Salman Khan. Everyone in India was excited about Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra coming in a movie together after almost two decades. But Priyanka Chopra quit the movie at the very end due to her wedding to Nick Jonas. Katrina Kaif replaced Priyanka Chopra in Bharat. The film was released in 2019 and emerged as a major commercial success.
In 2019, Priyanka Chopra was featured in a supporting role in the Hindi film ‘The Sky is Pink’. The film also starred Farhan Akhtar, actress Zaira Wasim, and actor Rohit Saraf. The Sky is Pink received positive reviews and met critical acclaim. But the film failed to perform well financially.
After the failure of The Sky is Pink, Priyanka Chopra hasn’t done any Hindi or Indian films.
Since 2019, Priyanka Chopra has featured in English films such as We Can Be Heroes (2020), The White Tiger (2021), The Matrix Resurrections (2021), Love Again (2023) and Tiger (2024).
She has also produced English projects such as Evil Eye (2020) and Born Hungry (2024).
From 2015 to 2023, Priyanka Chopra has featured in English shows like Quantico, If I Could Tell You Just One Thing, Activate: The Global Citizen Movement, It’s My City, A World of Calm, Supersoul, Jonas Brothers Family Roast and Citadel. In Quantico and Citadel, she played the main lead.
As of now, Priyanka Chopra is shooting for an action comedy film titled ‘Heads of State’. Priyanka Chopra is paired with Idris Elba and John Cena in Heads of State. She is also shooting for an action drama film titled ‘The Bluff’.
Priyanka Chopra will reprise her role of Nadia Sinh in the second season of Citadel. She is paired with Richard Madden. Priyanka Chopra has been sharing several pictures from the sets of Citadel Season two. She has been injured several times while performing the stunts.
